Interview: Laird Scranton – Boing Boing

Laird Scranton, an independent software designer, has written three provocative books about the Dogon people of Mali, West Africa. His research explores the cosmological structures of Dogon myths, architecture, and art, and draws connections with Ancient Egypt, and with modern quantum theory, string theory and astrophysics. Scranton’s books open new avenues of thought, and raise compelling questions about African oral traditions that are rapidly disappearing from the human cultural landscape. Avi Solomon’s recent interview with him for Boing Boing caught my eye. It also has generated a lot of commentary: Interview: Laird Scranton – Boing Boing.
