Barefoot Diva … Despedida

Cesária Évora will live forever in the mystery and mystique of the morna.

“Our music is a lot of things,” Évora told the Associated Press in 2000. “Some say it’s like the blues, or jazz. Others says it’s like Brazilian or African music, but no one really knows. Not even the old ones.”

  1. Regrettably, i haven’t always heard of Cesaria Evora, until three years ago. Her music impressed me a lot. She’s a legend and hope that her music will never be forgotten/

    • I discovered her music many years ago and became a fan immediately. She had the ability to create an instant intimate connection with her audience and stir deep feelings of longing and nostalgia. I think her music will long endure.
