The term “Dreamtime” refers to the creation stories and spiritual beliefs of the Australian Aborigines. New DNA studies reveal the Aborigines to be the descendants of the earliest population of modern humans who left the African continent to explore and occupy the planet. Thus their Dreamtime, like that of all modern human beings, began in Africa. How they arrived on the Australian continent, a journey that required a passage by boats across vast distances of ocean, remains an unsolved mystery. But thanks to recent research studies, their connection to and place within the vast African Diaspora is becoming much clearer.
