Mi Querido Barrio | Franklin H. Williams Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute

Mi Querido Barrio/My Beloved Community is a multidisciplinary community history project launched by the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute to document the distinct cultural, political, and social legacy that the people of East HArlem have imparted to current residents, New York at large, and to the dynamic American landscape. Interviews of elders, historians, cultural workers and keepers of our legacy, as well as memorobilia collected over a period of two years will be synthesized into an exhibition a curriculum, a documentary, and a table book that will frame the cultural identity of the community and create an account of El Barrio in her own voice. Mi Querido Barrio is a collaborative project engaging community based institutions in the process of collecting and sharing our stories
